During WWII, America supplied Russia in large numbers weapons, vehicles, and airplanes under the LEND-LEASE agreement, with the Amphibious 1/4 ton 4x4 truck being one such vehicle. In Russian service, this truck played a part in many fording operations such like that at the Oder River proving to be very reliable. It was used in various roles such as reconnaissance and military personnel transport right up until the end of the Berlin Offensive Operation in May 1945.

In the later stages of WWII, Russian soldiers could be seen wearing the high collared Rubashka field uniform with overalls to protect them from the cold and becoming soiled.
