1/24 Sports Car Series No.32

1/24 SCALE Honda PRELUDE XX

Length: 180 mm. Image shows painted and assembled kit.

The Honda Prelude was already a hit by November 1982 when its second generation was released, including the top grade XX model. The Prelude XX had retractable headlights built into its sleek, aerodynamically honed body, joined by a sporty interior and a tinted sunroof, and technologically was at the front of the pack in its day. Power was provided by a 125hp 1.8-liter inline-four engine, while - unusually for that era - the 4-wheel independent suspension had a front double wishbone design. Its optional anti-lock braking (ABS) system was the first on a Japanese road car, and highlighted Honda's advanced engineering prowess. It is little surprise that the Prelude would go on to be one of the success stories of the 1980s.

  • The cardboard in-box partition is the same classic design used from the first production back in 1983.
