1/12 SCALE R/C Lamborghini Cheetah (2026)

Lamborghini wowed the world at the 1971 and 1973 Geneva Motor Shows with its exhibition of the high performance 300 km/h-plus Countach, but it had a fresh twist for the 1977 show in the shape of the Cheetah, an open 4-seater off-road vehicle. Originally born from a collaboration with the American company MTI (Mobility Technology International), the Cheetah project aimed to create an all-terrain military vehicle which would be a successor for off-road stalwarts like the M151 Jeep. By 1978 it had become a Tamiya model, and this updated re-release uses that model as a base, with modern upgrades.

Retro RWD Chassis
The 2WD chassis has a lightweight, rigid duralumin U-shaped plate, and utilizes a lengthwise battery pack in the center and a rear-mounted motor. The receiver and ESC are positioned on either side in duralumin rear R/C equipment trays for optimum balance, and a sealed gearbox helps prevent dust and small stones from entering the model. 4-wheel independent double wishbone suspension employs 4 adjustable flat-mounted, longitudinal metal torsion bar springs. Semi-pneumatic tires – which feature a flat chevron pattern are paired with durable three-piece wheels which have five screws to attach them to wheel hubs. A duralumin front underguard protects the model in crashes. The body is mounted inside front and rear for a more realistic look.

  • The unique doorless Cheetah body is attached to the chassis with internal catches, eliminating extruding mounts for greater realism.


  • Headlights have separate lenses. The duralumin front underguard and bumper offer great protection.


  • Check out the detail on the front winch and bumper shackles.


  • A busy interior has depictions of driver, seat, steering wheel, dashboard and fire extinguisher.


  • The styrene plastic roof part artfully captures the feel of a canvas roof.


  • Jerry cans, shovel and axe add plenty of realism to the rear. The outlets are mesh.


  • 3-piece wheels are paired with chevron tread semi-pneumatic recreations of the Cheetah’s low-pressure tires.


  • A closer look at the U-shaped duralumin frame, which accommodates a central battery, flanked by equipment trays for ESC and receiver.


  • The steering servo is placed on its end, and the steering linkage helps insulate it from impacts.


  • The front double wishbone suspension uses H-shaped arms top and bottom.


  • Tough metal hubs take the wheels with five 2x8mm screws.


  • The polycarbonate underpanel lets you admire the unique suspension with its longitudinal torsion bar springs.
