1/32 Aircraft Series No.28

1/32 SCALE NORTH AMERICAN F-51D MUSTANG KOREAN WAR

Length: 308 mm. Image shows painted and assembled kit.

Back from the Brink
The P-51D Mustang is viewed by many as one of the most successful aircraft of WWII, but this unique design with laminar flow wing still had plenty to offer after that conflict had ended. In 1950, by now having been re-named the F-51D when the U.S. Air Force was separated from the Army in 1947, it was called into action in the Korean War; airfields on the Korean peninsula were ill-suited to jet aircraft and the F-51D still had the necessary range and ordnance to roll back the years and do the job as a front line fighter.
About the Model
★This is a 1/32 scale plastic model assembly kit. Fuselage length: 308mm, wingspan: 354mm. ★The honed form of the F-51D is accurately recreated right down to rivets and panel lines. ★Features an accurate recreation of the Hamilton Standard propeller with squared off tips. ★Internal ducts and oil coolers give genuine realism to the radiator section. ★Elevators and other wing sections are moving parts. ★Depictions of the six 12.7mm machine guns even have ammo belts. ★Parts are included to depict two types of drop tank, 500lb bombs, and six 5-inch HVAR rockets. ★Fuselage has cooling slits recreated on the radiator access panel. ★Comes with a seated pilot figure for that extra level of realism. ★Includes three marking options: two U.S. and one Republic of Korean Air Force.
  • ★Marvel at the aerodynamically efficient form in 1/32 scale, with post-WWII Mustang details captured accurately and in style.
  • ★Engine cowl components are molded in thin plastic, and can be removed. Integrated engine mount and fuselage are highly durable.
  • ★This is a close-up of the Packard Merlin V-1650, with depictions of features such as intercooler, supercharger, carburetor and more.
  • ★There is plenty of air-to-ground ordnance to adorn your F-51D with: six HVAR rockets and drop tanks (which were improvised to hold napalm).
  • ★A highly realistic cockpit is packed with details. Choose between two types of radio that can be depicted on the instrumentation.
  • ★Photo-etched harness parts contribute to the realistic pilot position. Stowed behind the seat is the AN/ARC-4 radio unit.
  • ★The seated pilot figure is kitted out with the P-1A helmet used in the Korean War era, and is captured in authentic pose.
  • ★Choose whether to assembled with the wing machine gun panel open or closed, to show off the guns and their ammo belts.
  • ★Ailerons and flaps are moving components and can be adjusted after completion of the model, adding further realism.
  • ★Moving depictions of the elevators and rudder are actuated via a metal shaft for a highly authentic finish to your model.
  • ★Comes with a stand to enable in-flight display. Parts depicting retracted or deployed main and tail landing gears are also included.
  • ★This image shows off some of the plethora of accessories in the kit: photo-etched parts, plus masking stickers to help in the paint job.
